Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon

Dr Leonard Shan

Dr Leonard Shan is a FRACS-qualified specialist vascular and endovascular surgeon with a PhD in vascular surgery. He manages a broad range of arterial and venous conditions and consults across Melbourne, the Macedon Ranges and Gippsland. Dr Shan works across open surgery, endovascular and minimally invasive techniques, and matches the approach to the condition and to each patient.

He completed a Commonwealth Government-supported PhD in vascular surgery at The University of Melbourne under the mentorship of Professor Alun Davies and Professor Peter Choong. His doctoral research focused on patient-reported outcomes and quality of life after vascular surgery, work that supports tailoring treatment to the outcomes that patients value, and has been published in international medicine and surgery journals, including Circulation and Annals of Surgery.

Dr Shan is the director and principal vascular surgeon of Leonda Vascular. He is also the founding director of Vein Hub Victoria which is dedicated to the treatment of varicose veins. He cares for patients alongside a multidisciplinary team of anaesthetists, intensivists, nurses and allied health professionals at established hospital and consulting locations. Conditions and treatment options are explained in plain language, and patients are involved in decisions about their care.
